About the work
Mondzo needs a freelance fullstack developer who already lives in Shopify — not someone learning Liquid on the first ticket. The work is storefronts, apps, and the integrations that sit behind checkout.
The role is 100% remote. You must be able to work from Canada — there is no office to report to. Mondzo is based in Montreal and hires this freelancer as a telecommute engagement.
Bilingual EN/FR is the default. If you have only shipped English-only stores, say so — Québec clients will still need both languages in the architecture.
What you'll be building
Theme and storefront work
Online Store 2.0, Liquid, JSON templates, and metafields that merchants can actually edit.
Headless when it earns it
Hydrogen / Remix or a custom headless stack — only when the brand needs it, not as a default.
Apps and checkout
Shopify apps, checkout extensibility, and Admin / Storefront API work that survives real traffic.
Bilingual commerce
EN/FR storefronts, translated checkout paths, and content models that do not break the second language.
Required technical arsenal
Shopify core
Shipped themes and apps on live stores. You know the admin, the APIs, and the sharp edges.
Liquid & OS 2.0
Sections, metafields, and JSON templates. No copy-paste Dawn forks that merchants cannot maintain.
Full stack
Node or equivalent for apps, webhooks, and integrations. Theme work alone is not enough.
Bilingual EN/FR
Québec storefronts need both languages in the architecture — not a machine-translated tab later.
Performance
Core Web Vitals, image discipline, and checkout that does not stall on mobile.
To apply
Email your application directly. Include live Shopify URLs you built or own — not mockups, theme demos, or tutorial stores.
