About the project

We are building a fully custom, high-end web experience from scratch — no WordPress, no Webflow, no shortcuts. This is a heavy-hitting senior creative developer role.

The role is 100% remote. You must be able to work from Canada — there is no office to report to. Mondzo is based in Montreal and hires this contractor as a telecommute engagement.

The core vision combines bold kinetic typography and sleek, immersive 3D / WebGL effects that vibe across an ultra-wide desktop monitor down to mobile viewports — while holding buttery-smooth 60fps.

What you'll be building

Scroll-driven storytelling

Dynamic, scroll-driven storytelling and timeline-based animations.

Kinetic type systems

Complex kinetic typography layouts that break text into characters and words and animate independently.

Reactive 3D / WebGL

Subtle 3D depth, glassmorphism, or interactive distortion via WebGL shaders that react to cursor movement — and mobile gyroscope.

Fluid responsive layouts

Layouts that scale from ultra-wide desktops to mobile without layout thrashing or stutter.

Required technical arsenal

Motion & animation

Production-level GSAP — ScrollTrigger and custom timelines. Not demos. Shipped sites.

Core code

Modern vanilla JavaScript (ES6+) and advanced CSS. We are bypassing jQuery entirely for direct DOM work so performance stays protected.

3D & shaders

Hands-on Three.js or custom WebGL shaders for texture, lighting, and depth.

Typography tooling

SplitType.js, advanced text-parsing, and fluid scaling with modern CSS clamp logic.

Performance

Mobile GPU budgets, smooth touch/scroll, and no jank. 60fps is the floor, not a slogan.
